Me, being a super-inactive Journal writer I am, decided to break a chain of posts I thought of, but never actually typed to upload here, due to the birthday of DA!
So here's my DA story unique, because it's mine, and pretty usual in general
I knew about DeviantArt for quite some time before joining, but it seemed so complicated, that I created an account only somewhere around end of August 2009, when I was 21 and just returned from the USA. I went there for Work&Travel Program while being a student majoring in language studies. Lots of staff happened during these days, but I always recall them with warmth and nostalgia. I met a lot of great people, met friends I still keep in touch with AND had one of the worst experiences EVER on my way back - with delayed flights, flight rebookings to other airports and... ah, no, that one time my luggage was lost happened another time. Well, anyway instead of having two connected flights I went from New York to Chikago, then to Heathrow airport (UK) where I was directed to the wrong terminal and after this to Frankfurt airport (Germany). Only from there I managed to get back to Russia.
This over I figured making an account won't be more difficult, so I finally joined.
Back then I was totally in Naruto fandom and majority of my submissions reflected that. I uploaded works without much system and probably wouldn't be able to understand much (even the Folder thing) if not for the help of my friends.
My avi was also made by a friend (Odango-datte that is ). I use the same avatar ever since and not intend to change it. The artwork I chose for avi isn't mine, and I still don't know the author of it which is a pity.
It is surprising how it's almost 5 years now that I'm with DA. Now I can't even imagine how would I be without - so many ways of inspiration, communication and mutual support with other deviantartists it brought to my life.
Today, celebrating the website's birthday, I'd like to thank people who created it, and all of us sharing our art here, and express high hope that it will stay with us for years and years ahead!
